Below is a screen capture of Genie's Evidence screen, filled out with some sample genealogical evidence. You would typically get here by pressing the Modify/View button in the Event screen (seen in the background), although there are other ways to get to this screen.
The top of the screen contains 'housekeeping' fields, and below the rule are the details of the evidence. Note that although we know from the previous screen who this evidence pertains to, Genie has a list box on the right for Names as Written, which applies to any names mentioned in a piece of evidence. Noting the name as written (spelled) in a particular document makes it possible to display, in another window, all the names by which a person has been known along with a link to the associated documentation. The push-pin icon near the top of the screen indicates that there is an attachment associated with the Evidence record, just like the one we already saw on the Individual record. Attachments can also be associated with Event and Research records. Note the yellow 'tip' in the upper right over the Tag1 field. Whenever your mousepointer rests over a field, a tip will appear for a few seconds, detailing the purpose of the field. This complements the Help system.
Also note the 4 greyed-out lines near the top indicating the source and the repository where the evidence was found. This was entered by selecting from the list at the bottom of the screen which had been entered previously. Once you enter information about a given source or repository, you can document many specific evidence records (references) with no need to enter the source or repository information again.
