This is a screen capture of Genie's Individual screen, filled out with some sample genealogical data. The top of the screen contains 'housekeeping' fields, and below the rule are the attributes of the individual. Note that a marriage entry in the History section is selected. If you were actually running the Genie program on your computer, and you pressed the adjacent Modify/View button, the detailed record for that marriage entry would be displayed in a subordinate window.
The push-pin icon near the top of the screen indicates that there is an attachment associated with the Individual record. You can associate photographs, scanned copies of original documents, or any kind of file you can use on your computer. Note the Help pull-down entry on the top menu row, as well as the Help button near the top of the Individual screen. There is extensive Help covering all aspects of the Genie program, and all the major screens have dedicated Help buttons of their own, tailored to the particular screen.
The Individual screen is the starting point for most genealogical information managed by Genie's database. The Individual screen provides an 'at-a-glance' overview of the individual, and you 'drill down' to subordinate screens for supporting details, as can be seen if you exercise the hyperlinks above. If you were actually running Genie, you could also view information about people related to the individual by pressing the View buttons (those with the magnifying glass icon), or jump to the Individual record of a relative by pressing the buttons with bold arrow icons.
